| Kelsey Cook and
Annabel Walsh |
While watching TV, Kelsey and Annabel
saw a commercial on Bear Necessities. They decided they
wanted to donate money. Their parents threw the ball
back in their court, giving them the opportunity to
learn firsthand the personal satisfaction that comes
from altruism. So Kelsey and Annabel began to think
about ways to raise money. After thinking of may ideas,
they decided to have a craft sale. For months, Kelsey
and Annabel decorated purses, magnets, belts and picture
frames.
Finally, the big day arrived. Kelsey
and Annabel set up shop in Annabel’s house one
afternoon and invited the entire class of first graders
at Hubbard Woods School, along with other friends and
children from their neighborhood.
The sale was a resounding success.
To add to the money raised, their parents matched the
profits on a dollar to dollar basis – “as
any good employer would do.”
“We are very proud of our
daughters, and are so happy they chose to donate their
time and energy to such a good cause.”
