The New Trier Hockey Club collected more than $5,300 Oct. 1 to purchase Bear Hugs to make a special experience possible for a child with cancer as well as provide support services for his or her family.
Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a national organization whose mission is to eliminate pediatric cancer and to provide hope and support to those who are touched by it.
Bear Necessities was founded in 1992 in memory of 8-year-old Barret "Bear" Krupa, who died after a five-and-a-half year battle with Wilms Tumor, a pediatric cancer.
To date, the New Trier Hockey Club has collected $24,800 to support the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
